All along the centuries the carpets became pieces appreciated both for their utility and for their beauty.
The tradition of weaving carpets is very old and common in big part of the world.
In some cultures like the Islamic it does not only fulfill an estetic function but also it is a fundamental part of the culture and the religion. Floor is considered something impure while the carpets protect people and avoid direct contact with the ground.
Majority of known oriental carpets are called according to the region and people which started their creation. For example, in Turkey Usak and Kars; in Iran Nain and Tebriz; or Bukhara and Karachi in Pakistan and Asia are among hundreds of different varieties of carpets.
Also there are other carpets named like Yoruk which makes a reference to the Turkoman origined nomads living in Turkey.
Great part of these carpets&rugs are created with the use of wool and cotton. Silk, camel's hair, goat's hair or horse's hair are less frequently used. The common use of wool is due to the facts of easy disponibility in Asia; low costs and its capacity to isolate and keep heat. Silk, on the contrary, is the most expensive as it needs a very refined and skillful handcraftship during its elaboration.
Countries like Turkey, Iran, India or China exported to the whole world their beautiful and singular creations.
